RAMBLINGS --By Roger
Our special thanks to Paul Jacoby for his excellent message last Sunday evening. We are blessed to have so
many talented folks in the congregation. There will be a brief elders and deacons meeting this
evening at 6:00. Fellows, please make a concerted effort to be back this evening for that meeting.
As we have been announcing for the past couple of weeks, February 17 we will host the first of the 2012 Friday Night
Sings. If you would like to donate cookies and soft drinks for the period of refreshments which will follow
the sing, there is a signup sheet on the bulletin board in the foyer. As most of you know,
Linda Kirkbride has been our church secretary for the past twenty years. Linda will
be retiring at the end of March. We mentioned two weeks ago that we would need to replace her. Three ladies from
the congregation have expressed interest in the position. We plan to sit down with each of them this week. Hopefully,
we can make a decision by the end of February so that Linda's replacement can then spend the month of March
training with Linda with the goal of being ready to assume her duties the first of April. All three
candidates are lovely Christian ladies, so the decision will not be an easy one. This is a very important position,
and we covet your prayers as we proceed. The 2012 Freed-Hardeman Lectureship
this week is being dedicated to Clarence DeLoach. There will be an Appreciation Dinner Tuesday
evening in his honor. Our congratulations to Clarence. I can think of no one more deserving of
such an honor.
